We provide Neuro Physiotherapy and rehabilitation to anyone who has physical symptoms resulting from a neurological condition. Our aim is to meet your needs with an individually tailored approach that helps you manage your condition. Whether you are looking for an assessment and advice, long term rehabilitation or an intensive burst of physiotherapy, we are here to help.
Assessment and Neuro Physiotherapy sessions can be carried out in the comfort of your own home, at your gym or elsewhere in your local community. At Active Neuro we offer:
Talking about what you aim to get from your Neuro Physiotherapy sessions is an important part of our process. Establishing your goals allows us to recommend a treatment plan that will best help you reach your targets. The treatment plan may involve hands-on therapy techniques, facilitation of the way in which you move and assistance with and practice of things you find difficult. We will always offer advice on specific exercises that you can be doing between physiotherapy sessions to continue your progress.
After a full assessment we can recommend an exercise program tailored to your needs, that you can carry out at home independently. We always offer written advice when there is a lot of information to take in, so you will have a copy of your exercise program to refer back to.
If you have complex positioning requirements we can also offer advice and a written positioning regime to allow you good alignment, contracture management or prevention and a reduced risk of pressure sores. We can train your carers in how best to help you get well positioned throughout the day, and can offer advice and assistance in purchasing any equipment or splints that might assist your positioning for comfort or contracture management.
Exercise in the water offers a different type of exercise than the gym, and has been shown to be beneficial for strength and balance in people with several neurological conditions. After an assessment and depending on your needs, we can offer sessions in your local pool to carry out hydrotherapy based exercises. Alternatively we can recommend an exercise regime that you can carry out in the pool independently when you go swimming, that is tailored to your individual needs.
If appropriate, our orthotist can prescribe, measure and fit an orthosis with a design and purpose specific to your needs.
